Dr Mark Eccleston is an enthusiastic and passionate biotechnology entrepreneur with over 20 years experience in the sector, both in academia and industry. He holds a PhD in Polymer Chemistry for biomedical applications, gained within a world renowned hydrogel biomaterial research group and has carried out industrially sponsored research for big pharma companies including SmithKline Beecham and Nycomed Amersham.
He was one of the first BBSRC funded scientists to complete the Royal Society of Edinburgh Enterprise Fellowship Schemes run in collaboration with Scottish Enterprise and was awarded an MBA (entrepreneurship) from the University of Dundee in 2008.
As a founding director of four biotech companies and one fast moving consumer goods consultancy company he is a strong believer in innovation as a driver for productivity and profitability. His dedication to innovation and versatility is exemplified by the variety of consultancy contracts fulfilled and range of granted patents and patent applications.
In 2010 Mark founded OncoLytika, a technical consultancy company operating mainly in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector. Client companies include internationally located private and public limited companies operating in the diagnostics and therapeutic sectors as well as academia.
